Secretary’s Report; Rosalind Santini read the minutes from the September 16th
meeting. Rosalind also handed out packs of Postcards to Swing States to
interested member of the club. They have agreed to provide stamps and write the
message to Virginia Voters in support of Democratic Candidate for Governor of
Virginia; Abigail Spanberger to be mailed by October 24th.
President Cami Ross began her power point presentation with a quote from the
Red, Wine and Blue organization “ When they go Low, We go Local”. She
discussed the importance of all local elections and reviewed the list of candidates
for counsel and school board for each town and village from the election board
website. Everyone was encouraged to investigate websites for
honestyforohioeducation.org to learn about State House and Senate bills affecting
Ohio Schools and to TAKE ACTION. Also prageru.com a conservative website
promoting a whitewashed curriculum for many school and promoted by moms for
liberty.
Gerrymandering was discussed next to explain that our voting maps have been
deemed unconstitutional and must be redrawn. Current maps are temporary and
will continue to be used because the republicans control the house and senate and
are refusing to redraw the maps. Go to fairdistrictsohio.org for more information.
Cami stressed the importance of educating yourself then having conversations with
your family and friends to seek to understand their position in a kind and caring
way. Please use the link in the newsletter to view the slides of this meeting.Heather Cox Richardson / 1440
